*** NEW ***  CHARLES ELIOT SCHOLARSHIP   
The Metropolitan Area Planning Council presents a $500 scholarship for seniors entering college that wish to further their education in the fields of land use planning, open space protection, land management and other ecological issues.

In honor of the late Elsie Frank, mother of former Massachusetts Congresman, Barney Frank.
Elsie Frank was a member of Greater Boston PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbian and Gays).

Applicants must enroll in a two-year or four-year accredited college or university.
Included in the scholarship application process: a written essay, two letters of recommendation, your high school transcript and a letter or acceptance from one or more colleges.

A Scholarship for an African-American/Black high school senior applying for fall 2013 admission to an accredited four year college or university.
Award: $1,000.00
Eligibility:  Grade point average not lower than B-; excels in service and extracurricular activities.

Award Scholarship: $500.00. (The John F. McKenzie Scholarship)
Eligibility: Commitment to attend Mass Bay in the Fall of 2013.
Have a GPA of at least 2.5 or higher; be a resident of Massachusetts.

The Philip J. Farrell Memorial Scholarship is in the amount of $1,000.00.
Eligibility: Students must have participated in the Big I Junior Classic Golf Tournament.

*** NEW ***  Lt. Paul J. SULLIVAN SCHOLARSHIP   
Awards of: $3500, $2500, and $2000.
Students must be a member of Sacred Heart Church in Newton, or various Waltham, Watertown, and Belmont Parishes.
Eligibility: well-rounded athletes who are involved in your high school, religion, and community.

Rockland Charitable Trust Foundation  
A $2.500 scholarship to assist families with a limited income ($59,360).
To attend a four year college or Dean College.
Student must be of high character, involved in community/extra-curricular activities, and academically successful.

Massachusetts Broadcasters Association   
Applicants must be a Massachusetts resident and plan on a two or four year school.
Applicants must be interesting in studying over-the-air broadcasting.
Scholarships: one for $2,000 and one for $3,000.

Maria Vallone Italian Cultural Scholarship   
Student must be enrolled at Newton North High School.
Students must be taking Italian classes, and have demonstrated diligence in the classroom and community.
Students must incorporate Italian in some way in his/her goals for his/her future vocation.
Scholarship award $1,000.

Hood Sportsmanship Scholarship
A $5,000 scholarship for students who have participated in a varsity sport; who will attend a two or four year college.
Students must have earned a cumulative 3.0 GPA and performed community service.
Applicant must submit a short essay explaining why they “are a good sport on and off the field”.

Michael Scheller Scholarship 
Scholarship is named in honor of a NNHS graduate, a mentor to younger students, who loved to read.
This scholarship is funded for students who will attend the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
The applicant must be in good academic standing and has some financial need.

Village Bank Scholarships
Awards: Two $10,000 scholarships and Fifteen $2,000 scholarships through the Auburndale Community Charitable Foundation.
Applicants must be a resident of Newton and the student or an immediate family member must have been a customer of The Village Bank since at least January 1, 2012.

Student Insights Market Research for Higher Education Scholarship
This is a unique opportunity for high school seniors regardless of academic achievement or financial need.
Student Insights award one $4,000 scholarship, two $1,000 scholarships, and nine $500 scholarships.

Salem State University Alumni Scholarship
Open to students that are related to a Salem State University alumnus who plan on attending SSU.
Awards: $1,700 per school.
Scholarships are renewable for a period of up to four years.
The application has an essay component addressing one of the following: Academic Merit, Participatory Merit, or Community involvement.

The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship
This organization offers scholarships to New England students with financial need who display academic excellence, strong citizenship and character, and a desire to make a meaningful contribution to society.

Massachusetts Restaurant Assocation
Scholarships up to $2,000.00.
Qualifications: Students who wish to continue their education in a culinary arts or restaurant/foodservice management program at the college level; must be a U.S. citizen and a Massachusetts resident; students must have a minimum GPA of 2.65 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent); work experience of a minimum of 250 hours of paid or volunteer experience or a minimum 750 hours of paid work experience.

Grand Lodge Knights of Pythias
Awards: $1,000.
Participants must have an altruistic service to their community.

A small resource company that awards $4,000 scholarships.
Awards are given monthly, from November to April.
